Arch Insurance Strengthens Its Casualty Division in Spain and Portugal

Arch Insurance, a branch of the Bermuda-based re/insurer Arch Capital Group, has proudly announced the strategic appointments of Carmen Cobeta as the Head of Casualty, Spain, and Irene Fernandez Franic as Senior Casualty Underwriter.

Both Cobeta and Fernandez, who will operate out of Madrid, are tasked with expanding Arch’s casualty portfolio in Spain and Portugal. Their focus will be on primary, umbrella, and excess liability coverage across a diverse range of sectors, such as industrial, manufacturing, and rail.

Cobeta brings with her an impressive two decades of casualty experience. Her career prior to joining Arch Insurance saw her most recently in the role of Regional Broker Relationship Manager at QBE Europe. Cobeta’s extensive background also includes positions as Liability Portfolio Manager and Senior Casualty Underwriter at QBE Europe, in addition to various underwriting roles at Chubb.

With over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, Franic joins from Howden, where she previously held the position of Head of International Construction. Her career portfolio also includes significant broking and underwriting roles at Aon, Generali, and QBE Europe.
